Roval 321: in triathlon, the portion on the bike is worth about 50% of the total race time and that is where the choice of material can make a substantial difference. There is no other component more important in saving you time than the lenticular wheel. While a traditional lenticular wheel is already faster than its counterpart with spokes, the 321 overturns design concepts, to be even faster.
Roval 321: Typically, lenticular wheels are divided into two categories, those with a completely flat profile, made of carbon fiber with a honeycomb foam filling and then spoked wheels with a carbon fiber cover. Roval's habit of overhauling designs led to the creation of the 321 from a single layer of 1k carbon fiber on either side of the wheel that meets at the height of the brake track.
This type of carbon is rarely used in cycling, due to its high cost, but it brings enormous advantages. It is much lighter than 3k or 12k carbon and can only be processed by the most skilled craftsmen. It's a complicated procedure, but it's worth it, because it provides a smooth ride and is among the lightest wheels on the market. Simply put, it will spin easily, reducing fatigue over long distances.
