Colnago C72 stands as the pinnacle of Italian cycling engineering, a bicycle that does not seek to compete with the V-series in terms of extreme aerodynamics, but rather aims for constructional perfection and ride feel. Faithful to tradition, the C72 maintains the lugged frame construction, a choice that allows for the combination of seven different carbon elements to achieve a responsiveness and millimetric precision unattainable in industrial monocoque frames. Compared to the previous C68, the frame has been further lightened by approximately 30 grams, while increasing torsional stiffness thanks to a new lamination of high-modulus fibers.

The design of the C72 evolves toward a "luxury all-road" concept: the rear triangle has been redesigned to improve vibration absorption, while tire clearance has been extended up to 35mm, allowing for versatile use even on rough asphalt without sacrificing speed. One of the most functional innovations is the integration of a hidden storage compartment located under the bottle cage, which allows for the transport of repair kits without altering the clean aesthetics of the frame.

Integration is also total in the cockpit, where the new CC.02 handlebar makes its debut. This component is not only 15 grams lighter than its predecessor but features a revised ergonomic shape to offer a more aggressive position and superior braking control. The C72 remains an elite object, produced in only 3,000 units per year, confirming itself as the ultimate meeting point between historic craftsmanship and the technology of the future.
