The Specialized Epic Hardtail Comp is a cross-country hardtail mountain bike built to combine low weight, comfort and control on the trail. Its FACT 11m carbon frame features Progressive XC Geometry and Rider-First Engineered construction for responsive, versatile handling. A RockShox REBA fork with 110mm travel and Motion Control helps smooth rough terrain, while the 12-speed SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission delivers shifting even under load. Four-piston SRAM DB4 brakes, 29-inch wheels and Fast Trak and Air Trak tires complete an XC-focused build.
The Specialized Epic Hardtail Comp is designed for riders who want a cross-country hardtail mountain bike that combines speed, comfort and precise handling. The Epic Hardtail concept challenges the idea that a race bike should focus on low weight alone: its frame is engineered to tackle technical terrain, soften trail impacts and remain efficient when the pace increases. The result is a versatile modern hardtail suited to XC rides and demanding singletrack. This approach places rider comfort alongside outright speed on the trail.
At its heart is a Specialized FACT 11m carbon frame with Progressive XC Geometry and Rider-First Engineered construction. Singletrack-inspired geometry and carefully developed vertical compliance support control and comfort, while increased tire clearance adds versatility. The frame is dropper-post friendly and features internal cable routing, a threaded bottom bracket, a UDH hanger and 12x148mm rear spacing. Up front, the RockShox REBA fork uses a Motion Control damper, 110mm travel, 44mm offset and a 15x110mm axle to help manage uneven ground.
The drivetrain includes a 12-speed SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission rear derailleur engineered for easy shifting under load, a SRAM 10-52t cassette, a SRAM 70 Transmission 12-Speed Flattop Chain and a SRAM DUB Threaded Wide bottom bracket. Hydraulic SRAM DB4 disc brakes use four-piston calipers with a 180mm front rotor and a 160mm rear rotor for controlled braking. Specialized Alloy 29 rims have a 27mm internal width and are tubeless ready. Tire choice is specific to each wheel: a Specialized Fast Trak 29x2.35 up front and a Specialized Air Trak 29x2.35 at the rear, both with Flex Lite Casing and T5/T7 Compound. A Specialized Alloy XC minirise handlebar, Body Geometry Power Comp saddle and SWAT EMT Cage-Mount Tool round out the equipment. Together, these details create an XC hardtail that balances efficient pedaling, terrain capability and comfort over long rides.
