The ENVE SES 2.3 DB carbon wheelset is designed for climbing and mountainous road rides, balancing low weight, confident handling and aerodynamic efficiency. Its 28 mm front and 32 mm rear rim profiles are paired with hookless rims measuring 21 mm internally and 25 mm externally. ENVE INNERDRIVE Premium Straight-Pull hubs complete a 700c setup with Centerlock disc rotor mounts, aerodynamically optimized for 27 mm tubeless tires. Intended for road use only, the wheelset supports compatible tires from 25 mm and offers HG, XDR or N3W rear freehub options.
The ENVE SES 2.3 DB carbon wheelset was developed for riders who prioritize low weight and precise handling on mountainous roads. Part of the Smart ENVE System family, it pairs a 28 mm front rim with a 32 mm rear rim. The profiles balance crosswind stability and aerodynamic efficiency on fast descents and flatter roads.
Both carbon rims feature a 21 mm internal width and a 25 mm external width. ENVE uses a material-optimized carbon layup, reducing unnecessary material while tuning different areas of the rim for stiffness, impact resistance and tire retention. The hookless construction is paired with Wide Hookless Bead technology, a broad rim edge designed to spread impact forces and reduce the likelihood of pinch-flat damage. The rims are aerodynamically optimized for 27 mm tubeless tires, with a minimum labeled tire size of 25 mm. For that minimum size, the maximum rim pressure is 90 psi (6.2 bar); the tire manufacturer's lower limit must also be respected.
At the center of the wheelset are ENVE INNERDRIVE Premium Straight-Pull hubs. Their oversized steel ratchets sit inboard over the bearings, helping reduce axle and bearing loads while delivering reliable engagement. Interchangeable ratchet options of 40, 60, 80 and 100 teeth allow the system to be tuned for different preferences. The straight-pull design also simplifies spoke servicing and reduces creaking. Each wheel has 24 spokes.
The 700c wheelset uses 12x100 mm front and 12x142 mm rear thru-axle spacing, with Centerlock disc rotor mounts. Rear freehub choices include HG, XDR and N3W, and the offered decal color is Black. The SES 2.3 is designed for use with compatible tubeless tires and disc brakes only. Its lightweight rim construction is not suitable for gravel or other off-road riding. For dedicated road cyclists who place a premium on climbing performance, it is a focused option that also maintains composed handling on the way back down.
